When it comes to job opportunities for all sections, Indore popularly known as education hub of central India, the city stands at 8th position.

The revaluation came to fore after recent study on an analysis of the postings on all the top job portals in the country and highlights the trends witnessed by the sector in 2013 by Careesma along with JobisJob.

The study finds out that despite the economic slowdown witnessed in the country in 2013, hiring remained buoyant.

The hiring activity picked up as the year prog ressed with sectors like information technology, business processing outsource and banking leading the charge as companies hired for future growth.

These cities are employment hotspots and home to sectors like IT, media, auto and BPOs. Collective number of jobs offered in these 5 cities was above 3 million for the year 2013.

When it comes to tier- II cities, Indore stands second after Ahmedabad while Jaipur stands third in the rating. The three of them collectively offered around 2.5 lakh jobs to job seekers in 2013.

In Indore, bulk of hiring happened in the BPO sector. Junior positions were heavily in demand in tier- II cities as well with most job openings for business development, marketing and sales executives. Skills like PHP development, web designing and accounting also found a lot of takers in these cities.

Hiring in Indore started slowly but picked up steadily from February.

Indore saw a sudden peak in October, eclipsing both Ahmedabad and Jaipur in that month, mostly owing to increase in jobs from BPO industry.

Jaipur on the other hand started very strongly in January, but evened out from April onwards with average 1.02% hiring out of total hiring across India.

Pune leading city in job offering for freshers and experienced

The information is sourced from The Indian Express. According to the survey of multiple job portal's data, the Pune is one of the top five cities in the country in offering jobs. Last year, more than three lakh jobs were offered in Pune with IT, ITES and auto sectors leading the pack.

According to surveys, the demand has been risen in the city for fresh graduates and people with 0-5 years of experience. Almost all the Colleges and institutes in pune have already placed 55 to 80 per cent of their students, said the officials of the respective colleges. 

Sudhanshu Arora, country head of Careesma, a job Search portal, said 2013 started on a sluggish note in terms of hiring, but it picked up towards the year end. Marketing, business development and sales executives were in demand, for IT, ITES and auto sectors in the city.

"Almost 200 out of 300 students are already placed from our college. This season is definitely better than the last academic year. IT is everywhere. Even automobile and other companies are going electronic now. Hence the use of IT and electronics engineers are increasing," said Girish Mundada, T&P officer at Pune Institute of Computer Technology, (PICT).

"Another major trend is the increasing recruitment by small and medium scale industries and start ups. Around 40 per cent of our placements were in these companies. Even the so-called dream companies have recruited more this year with eight students from our college with a student getting a package of Rs 30 lakh a year from a Japanese company," said Mundada.

Co-operation with India

China's state media are promoting Premier Li Keqiang's India tour as a "dragon and elephant dance", showcasing the economic might of the two Asian giants.


Global Times says both countries have prevented border problems from derailing ties by prevailing in the face of "the West" and "media hype" about the border stand-off.

"Internal dissension between China and India meets Western interests... China's surrounding environment will suffer if India, a country which has the prospect of running neck-and-neck with China, becomes another Japan or Philippines in terms of its policies toward China," it says.
