Sudhanshu Arora, country head of Careesma, a job Search portal, said 2013 started on a sluggish note in terms of hiring, but it picked up towards the year end. Marketing, business development and sales executives were in demand, for IT, ITES and auto sectors in the city.
"Almost 200 out of 300 students are already placed from our college. This season is definitely better than the last academic year. IT is everywhere. Even automobile and other companies are going electronic now. Hence the use of IT and electronics engineers are increasing," said Girish Mundada, T&P officer at Pune Institute of Computer Technology, (PICT).
"Another major trend is the increasing recruitment by small and medium scale industries and start ups. Around 40 per cent of our placements were in these companies. Even the so-called dream companies have recruited more this year with eight students from our college with a student getting a package of Rs 30 lakh a year from a Japanese company," said Mundada.
